Recipe Scaler & Converter
Paste your ingredient list, set the servings, and get perfectly scaled amounts in fractions or decimals
Your ingredients
Write one ingredient per line, e.g. "200 g flour" or "1/2 cup sugar". Lines without a number are kept as-is.

About this tool
The recipe scaler resizes any recipe to the number of servings you actually need. Paste a list of ingredients, tell it how many people the recipe was written for, and how many you are cooking for, and every quantity is multiplied by the right ratio. It understands plain numbers, decimals and fractions like 1/2 or 1 1/2, keeps your original units, and can show the results as neat kitchen fractions or as decimals. There is nothing to install and your recipe never leaves your device.
How to use
- 1 Paste or type your ingredients, one per line, such as "200 g flour" or "1/2 cup sugar".
- 2 Set the original servings the recipe was written for and the number of servings you want.
- 3 Or tap a quick multiplier button like ×0.5, ×2 or ×3 to halve, double or triple the recipe.
- 4 Toggle fractions or decimals, optionally add a cup/spoon to millilitre note, then copy the scaled list.
How it works
Scaling a recipe is simple proportion. The tool computes a ratio of new servings divided by original servings, then multiplies every ingredient quantity by that ratio. For example, going from 4 to 8 servings doubles everything: 200 g flour becomes 400 g, and 1/2 cup sugar becomes 1 cup. Halving (×0.5) turns 1 1/2 teaspoons into 3/4 teaspoon, while ×2 turns 1 1/2 teaspoons into 3 teaspoons. Amounts are snapped to common kitchen fractions (halves, thirds, quarters, eighths) so you get values you can actually measure, and ingredients without a number — like "salt to taste" — are passed through unchanged.
Frequently asked questions
Can it handle fractions like 1 1/2?
Yes. You can type whole numbers, decimals such as 2.5, and fractions such as 1/2 or mixed numbers like 1 1/2. The scaled results are shown as tidy kitchen fractions by default, or you can switch to decimals with one click.
How do I double or halve a recipe?
Use the quick multiply buttons. ×2 doubles the recipe, ×3 triples it, and ×0.5 halves it. You can also set the original and new servings directly for any ratio, such as 4 to 6 people.
Does it convert cups to grams or millilitres?
It keeps your original units so a cup stays a cup, which is what most recipes expect. As a helper you can switch on a note that shows roughly how many millilitres each cup, tablespoon or teaspoon is, using common US kitchen equivalents.
Is my recipe sent anywhere?
No. All the parsing and scaling happens in your browser, so your recipe never leaves your device and the tool works even offline once the page has loaded.
