About this tool
Shoe sizes are written differently around the world: the United States, the United Kingdom, continental Europe and Japan each use their own numbering, so a single pair of feet can be a US 9, a UK 8, an EU 42.5 and 27 cm all at once. This converter lets you choose men's or women's sizing, enter your size in US, UK, EU or centimeters (foot length), and instantly read off the equivalents in every other system. It is built from widely published Brannock-based charts where each row represents one foot length, so conversions are symmetric and round-trip stable. Because the four systems do not line up perfectly, some inputs land between chart steps; in that case the closest size is shown and marked as approximate. Use it as a reliable starting point, then confirm fit by trying the shoes on or measuring your foot length in centimeters.
How to use
- 1 Choose Men or Women — men's and women's charts use different numbers.
- 2 Select the system you already know: US, UK, EU or cm (foot length).
- 3 Type your size; half sizes (e.g. 9.5) and centimeters (e.g. 27) are supported.
- 4 Read the equivalent sizes, or scan the full table below to compare every size at a glance.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert a US shoe size to EU?
Select your gender, choose US, enter your size and read the EU value. As a rough guide, men's EU ≈ US + 33 and women's EU ≈ US + 31, but the relationship is not perfectly linear, so use the chart rather than a single formula. For example a men's US 9 is about EU 42.5 and a women's US 8 is about EU 39.
What does cm (foot length) mean?
It is the length of your foot in centimeters, the basis of the Japanese and Mondopoint sizing systems. Stand on a sheet of paper, mark your heel and longest toe, and measure the distance. Entering this number gives the most reliable conversion because every other size is ultimately derived from foot length.
Why are men's and women's sizes different?
The numbering scales are offset and lasts are shaped differently. In US and UK sizing a women's number is typically about 1.5 sizes larger than the men's number for the same foot length (for example a men's US 8 ≈ women's US 9.5), while EU and cm sizes are closer between genders. Always pick the chart that matches the shoe you are buying.
How do I measure my foot length accurately?
Measure in the evening, when feet are slightly larger, while wearing the socks you will use. Stand with your weight on the foot, place the heel against a wall and measure to the tip of the longest toe. Do both feet and use the larger measurement. Add roughly 0.5–1 cm of toe room when choosing a size.
Why doesn't the converted size fit perfectly?
Conversion charts standardize foot length, but real shoes vary by brand, last (the mold the shoe is built on), width and model. A size that fits one maker can feel different in another, especially for narrow or wide feet. Treat the result as a starting point and, when possible, try the shoes on or check the manufacturer's own size guide.
