Salary conversion formula
annual = hourly × hours/day × days/week × weeks/year
Every figure is derived from one annual salary using your work schedule, so the hourly, daily, weekly, monthly and annual amounts always agree.
What is a salary calculator?
A salary calculator converts pay from one period to another — for example turning an hourly wage into an annual salary, or a monthly salary into an hourly rate. Because the conversion depends on how much you actually work, you supply your schedule: the hours you work per day, the days you work per week and the weeks you work per year. Enter any single pay figure (hourly, daily, weekly, monthly or annual), and the calculator works out all five so you can compare offers, budget your income, or check that an hourly rate matches the salary you expect. All figures are derived from one underlying annual salary, so they always stay consistent with each other.
How to use it
1. Enter a pay amount.
2. Choose which period that amount represents (hourly, daily, weekly, monthly or annual).
3. Set your schedule: hours per day, days per week and weeks per year.
The calculator instantly shows the equivalent hourly, daily, weekly, monthly and annual pay, and the total work hours per year.
Formula and definition
All conversions go through a single annual salary built from your schedule:
annual = hourly × hours/day × days/week × weeks/year
From the annual figure the others follow directly:
monthly = annual / 12
weekly = annual / weeks per year
daily = hourly × hours/day
hourly = annual / (hours/day × days/week × weeks/year)
For example, an hourly rate of 2,000 at 8 hours/day, 5 days/week and 52 weeks/year is an annual salary of 4,160,000.
Reading your results
The five rows show the same pay expressed over different periods, all consistent with the schedule you entered. Change the schedule and every figure updates: more weeks of work per year raises the annual total, while fewer working days lowers it. This is a gross-pay conversion — it does not deduct income tax, social-insurance contributions or other withholdings, which vary by country and personal situation, so your take-home pay will be lower. Use it to compare offers on a like-for-like basis, but check the tax rules where you live for an after-tax figure.
Frequently asked questions
How many weeks per year should I use? ▾
Use 52 for a full year. If you want to account for unpaid time off, lower the number of weeks accordingly; for paid holidays you can usually keep 52 since you are still paid for them.
Is this gross or net pay? ▾
It converts gross pay only — before income tax, social contributions and other deductions. Net (take-home) pay depends on your country's tax rules and your personal circumstances.
How is the hourly rate calculated from a salary? ▾
The annual salary is divided by your total scheduled work hours in a year (hours per day × days per week × weeks per year). Changing your schedule changes the hourly rate.
Why does the monthly figure use 12 and not weeks? ▾
Monthly pay is the annual salary divided by 12 calendar months, which is how most monthly salaries are defined. Weekly pay, by contrast, divides the annual figure by the number of weeks you work.
This calculator converts gross pay only and does not account for income tax, social-insurance contributions, overtime rules or other deductions, which vary by country and situation. Your actual take-home pay will differ. It is provided for general educational purposes and is not financial advice.
